Des experts des Forêts d’Afrique centrale sont à N’Djaména pour un atelier de trois jours

Le groupe de travail de suivi de la mise en œuvre de la Convention des Nations-Unies pour la Lutte Contre la Désertification en Afrique Centrale (Gtccd) de la Commission des Forêts d’Afrique Centrale (COMIFAC) est à son onzième (11e) atelier. Les travaux ont démarré ce matin dans un hôtel de la place et c’est le Ministre de l’Environnement, de la Pêche et du Développement durable, Mahamat Ahmat Lazina qui a ouvert la cérémonie.

Dans son allocution, le secrétaire exécutif adjoint par ailleurs, coordonnateur technique de la Comifac-Cameroun, Chouaibou Nchoutpouen réitère sa gratitude à l’endroit de la Convention des Nations-Unies pour la Lutte contre la Désertification (Cnuld) et autres partenaires pour leurs soutiens sans faille à la COMIFAC. Le Camerounais Chouaibou de rassurer que le concept innovant, « un Tchadien, un arbre » lancé par le gouvernement tchadien à travers le ministre de l’Environnement, , le 12 mars dernier pour la mise  en terre de 16000 plans s’inscrit dans la droite ligne de la politique son institution. D’où l’organisation de la présente 11e réunion de groupe de travail de la COMIFAC à N’Djaména au Tchad.

Point de vue partagé par le ministre de l’environnement, Mahamat Ahmat Lazina qui souligne que la vision commune des Etats d’Afrique centrale pour lutter contre l’avancée du désert, la dégradation des terres ainsi que bien d’autres problèmes liés à l’écosystème est salutaire. C’est pourquoi ajoute-t-il, la présente rencontre qui durera trois jours, permettra aux participants venus du Cameroun, de la République Démocratique du Congo (Rdc), le Burundi, ceux du Tchad, pour ne citer que ceux-là, d’adopter une feuille de route pour la COP15 qui se tiendra du 09 – 20 mai prochain à Abidjan en Côte-d’Ivoire.  

Créée en 2005 suite à la concertation des chefs d’Etats de l’Afrique centrale à Yaoundé au Cameroun en 1999, la Commission des Forêts d’Afrique Centrale a pour principal objectif, faire le suivi d’écosystème dans ladite sous-région. Et c’est en 2008 plus précisément, du 30 septembre au 1er octobre lors d’une rencontre des chefs d’Etats de la concernée à Douala au Cameroun que le Groupe de Travail de Lutte contre la Désertification de la COMIFAC a vu le jour.Nadjimbaye Dana Jonathan
